O-RAN’s emphasis on openness is reflected in its structure as an open technical organization, where incumbent as well as emerging industry players or academic institutions can join and contribute to its architecture and specifications.
Apply for membershipMembers and Contributors have access to all O-RAN specifications either work-in-progress or approved. O-RAN allows to access all materials in all Work Groups or Focus Groups, and keeps history of their versions and contributions.
Members and Contributors can progress with their implementations before the specifications are released to public.
At the O-RAN PlugFests, Members and Contributors can perform interoperability testing and integration of their implementations with other Members and Contributors. O-RAN PlugFests are co-sponsored by the O-RAN ALLIANCE.
Members and Contributors may join any Work Group or Focus Group and participate in the definition of requirements and specifications. O-RAN Work Groups and Focus Groups are co-chaired by both Members and Contributors. All co-chairs have the voting right at the Technical Steering Committee.
Members and Contributors can meet and cooperate within the RAN industry ecosystem. O-RAN schedules regular meetings face-to-face, when possible, or virtual. Work Groups and Focus Groups hold regular or ad-hoc conference calls, as required to achieve their objectives.
O-RAN Virtual Exhibition shows demonstrations of O-RAN based equipment in the form of videos, animations, charts or text. It is a valuable platform for Members and Contributors to present their
O-RAN implementations. O-RAN Virtual Exhibition is sponsored by the O-RAN ALLIANCE.
