At the O-RAN Virtual Exhibition, O-RAN ALLIANCE participants will present eight demos of latest achievements in open and intelligent RAN solutions prepared for MWC Shanghai, 26-28 June 2024.
Showcased intelligent RAN solutions feature RAN Intelligent Controller (RIC) applications that enhance indoor and outdoor positioning, benefiting smart factory operations and improving Quality of Service (QoS). Demonstrations of advanced RAN testing solutions focus on energy efficiency and simulations of real-world network situations.
All demos will be ready for virtual visit at the O-RAN Virtual Exhibition before MWC Shanghai start.
The demos are:
Artiza Networks showcases the Fronthaul Monitor, aimed at tackling O-RAN open fronthaul connectivity issues in multi-vendor settings. Through a virtual demo, they present testing methods for RAN and illustrate typical use cases where the Fronthaul Monitor aids in isolating connectivity problems.
Groundhog demonstrates O-CLOUD and Intelligent RAN control using CovMo™, a cloud-native geo-location solution that detects and mitigate a multitude of challenges currently faced by MNOs including RAN-optimization, VIP-care, and next-generation network rollout strategies. Combining superior accuracy and geo-KPIs, CovMo™ intelligently provides critical insights on the QoS experienced by the subscribers.
Inventec showcases an indoor positioning rApp via the O-RAN architecture's RIC platform, enhancing smart factory operations. This integration boosts production management through Digital Twins, revolutionizing manufacturing efficiency and operational capabilities by leveraging 5G technology for a new digital transformation era in the sector.
Iowa State University (ARA-OTIC) showcases an at-scale multi-cell O-RAN testbed in rural Iowa, featuring NI SDRs and open-source technologies on COTS servers. This platform aims to advance O-RAN research and its applications in precision agriculture and UAS, offering a real-world environment for innovation in essential sectors.
Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI Solutions jointly demonstrate energy efficiency testing on O-RUs in an Open RAN network using the VIAVI TM500 O-RU Tester and R&S RTO oscilloscope. The demonstration monitors O-RU activity against power consumption under various traffic scenarios, powered by R&S NGP unit.
Rohde & Schwarz and VIAVI showcase their fully integrated and automated test solution, combining R&S's PVT360 and VIAVI's TM500 O-RU tester, tailored for O-RU regression testing, design validation, and mass production testing stages.
Spirent showcases its DU test solution, emulating comprehensive mobile network functions in real-world scenarios for the DU under test. This software-driven method facilitates the activation of thousands of emulated UEs and multiple RUs within a virtualized environment, offering a cost-efficient strategy for evaluating DU capacity and supporting CI/CD/CT processes.
University of York showcases a testbed using O-RAN powered cell-free MIMO to improve the quality of service for cell-edge users. The work is undertaken by the University of York, within the YO-RAN and REACH projects, both funded by the Department of Science, Innovation and Technology of the UK government.
